  1. Non-neoplastic

  2. Neoplastic - further subdivided: 

  • Benign tumours

  • Malignant lid tumours​

Key points: 

​

  • Most lid lumps are benign, however malignant tumours can mimic benign tumours

    • malignant tumours can be life-threatening and require rapid recognition and treatment

  • In general, concerning features include ulceration, enlarging lesions, distortion of the eyelid margin, and loss of lashes

  • Malignant tumours must be removed with a suitable margin of excision of healthy surrounding tissue
